What is Global Game Jam?

The Global Game Jam® (GGJ) is the world’s largest game creation event taking place around the globe, typically at physical locations. A “game jam” is essentially a hackathon focused on game development. The GGJ encourages people with all kinds of backgrounds to participate and contribute to this global spread of game development and creativity. The jam is known for helping foster new friendships, increase confidence and opportunities within the community. The GGJ stimulates collaboration and is not a competition.

If you have not connected to our server yet, please do that now. We have compiled a list of resources to help you participate.

Our 2020 Jamsite

Nerd|Otaku and Liquid Telecom hosted the GGJ Nerd Otaku Lusaka site in 2020. We all had a blast creating games, learning new skills, making friends and participating in our shared love for gaming!

Why Game Jam?

This short but concise article explains some of the reasons why you would want to participate in a game game. “Need to improve your teamwork skills? Want to learn how to improve your skills as a graphic designer, a musician, programmer, or want to learn how to take new ideas and actually put them to use?”

GGJ Sponsored Resources

GGJ International have partnered up with industry leaders in the game development sector. These partners are providing access to premium tools during the GGJ period. This is a great opportunity to discover the capabilities and features of these tools.
